Multi Engine Rating
Rating Requirements
The Multi-Engine Rating is the next rating in Canada where you may fly more complex aircraft. With additional training, the holder of a Multi-Engine Rating may also obtain addition ratings including an instrument rating, and aircraft type ratings.
Following the issuance of a Private Pilot License or Commercial Pilot License the Transport Canada requirements for the issue of a Multi-Engine Rating are as follows:
Requirement
Age
Must be at least 17 years of age
Medical
Valid Category 1or 3 Medical Certificate
Knowledge
Complete 5 Hour Multi-Engine Ground School ( not required by Transport Canada but recommended by school)
Skill
Pass Transport Canada Multi-Engine Flight Test (MEFT)
There are no written examination requirements
Experience
Must first hold a valid Private Pilot License (PPL) or Commercial Pilot License (CPL)
BP Aviation’s suggested minimum Total Experience Requirements prior to commencing training of the Multi-Engine Rating
100 hours total time
Multi-Engine Course Requirements
There is no minimum hour requirement for the multi-engine rating, the average student can accomplish this between 8-10hrs. The candidate must demonstrate adequate knowledge & skill to pass a flight test.
